Microsoft is opening applications for new members to join Microsoft AI Futures Youth Council
We are looking for young people aged 13-17 who are residents of the US or of an EU member country who would like the opportunity to become a Microsoft AI Futures Youth Council member. This is an amazing opportunity to have your voice heard by Microsoft and to help influence Microsoft policies and products
We are looking for young people who can collaborate positively with peers from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Ideal candidates are curious and eager to both learn from others and contribute their own perspectives. Applicants should have a strong interest in exploring issues that impact teens in online spaces. You should be an open-minded listener who respects differing opinions and feels confident engaging in thoughtful discussion and idea-sharing within a supportive and safe environment.
The AI Futures Youth Council will serve as a platform for meaningful consultation, fostering dialogue between Microsoft’s product and policy leaders and the youth demographic directly impacted by technology decisions. Topics will include AI, age assurance, digital safety, and other key themes affecting young people’s online experiences.
This opportunity is open to young people who can commit to a series of virtual meetings between February 2026 and September 2026, and an additional in-person event in Fall 2026. There may also be additional reading to complete in preparation for meetings.
All applicants must have a good understanding of English and be able to converse in English for the purpose of the meetings. Applicants must also be at least 13 at the start of the council and no older than 17 by the end of September 2026.
The council is being led by Praesidio Safeguarding on behalf of Microsoft.
We will work to ensure that the Microsoft AI Futures Youth Council is an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment where all individuals feel valued and respected.
