Omayra is a Research Officer at Praesidio Safeguarding, bringing a strong background in psychology, mental health research, and safeguarding. At Praesidio, she applies her research and project management expertise to work that protects and supports children, young people, and vulnerable communities. Her professional interests centre on mental health stigma, social attitudes, safeguarding, and advancing evidence-based practice for underserved populations.
Prior to joining Praesidio, Omayra worked as a Family Support Worker, where she operated within a safeguarding-focused environment and collaborated closely with multidisciplinary professionals and agencies. She has also undertaken international voluntary work across Uganda, Cambodia, and Fiji, contributing to education, mental health awareness, and community-based initiatives. Omayra holds a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology, through which she built substantive expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research- including interviews, thematic analysis, survey design, and statistical analysis.
