We are passionate believers in the value of participatory work with children and young people so that their views and experiences inform product design as well as policy and regulation.
The TikTok Global Youth Council – In 2023 Praesidio were commissioned by TikTok to develop and design their global youth council – the first fully Global council to be run on behalf of a large tech company. The council brings together teenagers from across the world with 29 representatives from across the USA, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Tunisia, Qatar, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Poland, France, Spain and the UK. Key priorities on setting up the council have been to ensure the council sustains a safe and respectful working environment for children to share their perspectives freely and comfortably whilst also supporting their voices to have a genuine impact that translates into change. As the council has developed over the last few years, the work is increasingly structured to support youth led presentation and proposals on digital safety, leading to co-design work with different TikTok teams so that outputs can be directly built into the platform.
The Welsh Government – Keeping Safe Online National Advisory Panel – In 2024, Praesidio launched the Keeping Safe Online National Advisory Panel on behalf of the Welsh Government. This is a group of children and young people from across Wales, who have been able to come together to share their online experiences and inform policy makers on how to address some of the most significant challenges in the digital space. To date this group has directly shaped the educational input the children receive on tackling online hate, online misogyny and harassment in schools across Wales, as well as helping to shape policies around smartphones and the use of AI in education.
In April 2026 we are launching a youth council on behalf of Microsoft to give teens the opportunity to make their voices heard in relation to AI policy. The AI Digital Futures council will bring together teens from across the EU and the USA to share their views and perspectives on the opportunities and risks created by AI tools and to advise on product design and policy.
